The Conference. The annual ACM SIGMOD/PODS Conference is a leading international forum for database researchers, practitioners, developers, and users to explore cutting-edge ideas and results, and to exchange techniques, tools, and experiences. The conference includes a fascinating technical program with research and industrial talks, tutorials, demos, and focused workshops. It also hosts a poster session to learn about innovative technology, an industrial exhibition to meet companies and publishers, and a careers-in-industry panel with representatives from leading companies.
Houston. Houston is the most populous city in the state of Texas and has been rated the most racially and ethnically diverse metropolitan area in the US. It is among the most diverse in terms of food, art, and economy too. Nicknamed "Space City", Houston is home to the Lyndon B.Johnson Space Center which houses NASA. Houston's Museum and Theater Districts along with the beautiful 160-acre green Buffalo Bayou Park on the edge of downtown Houston are some of the top attractions in the city. Houston's mix of urban appeal and Southern charm have captured the imagination of visitors all over the world.
Marriott Marquis Houston. The conference will be held in the Marriott Marquis Houston hotel, located in downtown Houston. Marriott Marquis Houston is the newest luxury hotel in Houston and has an iconic rooftop lazy river in the shape of Texas. The hotel served as Super Bowl headquarters for the NFL 2017 and is the perfect spot for hosting an exciting conference.
Social events. The conference banquet will be held at the Minute Maid Park. Minute Maid Park, previously known as The Ballpark at Union Station, Enron Field, and Astros Field, is a ballpark in Downtown Houston. The ballpark is Houston's first retractable-roofed stadium, and features a natural grass playing field. The ballpark was built as a replacement of the Astrodome, the first domed sports stadium ever built, which opened in 1965.
